Six-Apart Fuckup Redux.

1 June 2007

It looks like Six-Apart’s mistake gets worse as another 24 hours passes. It seems that through their failure to research the people goading them into performing their mass deletion is coming back to bite them. Bite them hard. You know the scene in Jaws when Quint gets snapped on the aft of the Orca? That’s the level of bite we are talking about here, and it’s not pretty.

Of course, it was bound to happen. Pissing off that many people invites close scrutiny. Warriors for Innocence has been linked to hyper-conservative movements related to dominionism and all out christian reconstructionism.

Let me be perfectly clear on this subject: these people feel they know what is best for you. And if you do not agree, they feel you should die. These are the people who murder abortion doctors. These folks are similar to Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church, but way more organized, and way more savvy. These folks are real terrorists in America. They are well funded, and well hidden & networked. If you want to know who hijacked the traditional form of conservatism, look no further. Abraham Lincoln, one of the founders of the Republican party (and the person these folks like to tout, to lend themselves credibility) did not have these people in mind when he formed the party.

The biggest problem these folks had with the Taliban is that it was not composed of Rich White Christian Males. Hence they have picked up the nickname “Talibangelicals“. These are the folks who, through channels have been heavily influencing our current president.

To help you understand that these people mean business, lets get a few things right out of the way:

* They believe in the complete domination and subjugation of women.
* They believe the bible in the most literal sense you can possibly imagine.
* They tend to believe in white supremacy, but have no problems using minorities for political maneuvering.
* They believe in using biblically prescribed methods to justify outright murder of people who disagree or go against their belief systems.
* They have one clear and present goal: a total theocratic based government structure.

They run the gamut. Some aim for succession of Texas from the union. Some aim to slowly worm their way into the highest levels of Washington. Some would argue they succeeded to some extent with Georgie boy. Don’t think so? At a rally during George’s first run against Al Gore, folks from The National Association of Evangelicals were all wearing T-Shirts that said (Paraphrased) “What can 45,000 organized evangelical churches do? Anything they want“.

The attack on Livejournal is somewhat of an aberration. Most of these people understand the principle of omerta better than some Italians do. They know press can be bad for them. These people work in secret because they know how the general population would react if they were to be more open about their motives. But make no mistake, these people are real, and they have a seriously disturbing agenda, and they will stop at nothing to attain it.

What makes this so disturbing, is that the Livejournal attack was not about stopping pedophilia. It was about silencing people on a broad scale. It was about power. And they have no problem killing fleas with cobalt bombs. I don’t like crimes against children any more than most people. But vigilantism is never the answer. These people feel that it’s perfectly okay to silence anyone they feel like, and label them as criminals if they disagree. To quote one of these cretins: “The truth of the matter is that the only person who would value free speech more than the safety of a child is a person who WA LA endangers children. You’re all clueless and every single one of these statements prove it.“.

What they conveniently leave out with the little straw man argument, is how people value the rights of the constitution over all, and that the power of the constitution must be protected from those who would cut corners. It’s not a perfect document. You will get no argument from me there. Do I think free speech means you can yell fire in a theater when there is no fire? No. What it means is, it has to be put into its context. I think child safety is important. These people are our future. What I am not willing to do, is become worse than the enemy, and to supplement the bill of rights for a system of government based on “I am more right than you” and “The end justifies the means, whatever they might be”. These invite, perpetuate, and introduce either anarchy, or totalitarianism.

And I am unwilling to live under either of those. You should be too.
