A great essay on women…and feminisim…

21 August 2007

…is over on Violent Acres. I am sure she will get a mountain of shit from people over it too. Not that she will care. She revels in it.

But, she is absolutely correct. I wrote about this very subject a few years ago in fact.

Reading “Prone to Violence”, showed me once and for all, that…by and large human beings are human beings. And in reality, the label “battle of the sexes” is less about gender, and more about shaping perceptions. It’s about putting lipstick on the pig.

The feminism movement was hijacked the very moment that so called “bad equality” was discovered, and proven. But the honest to god’s truth is, at the end of the day…many women are less than what they could be. Just as many men are less than what they could be.

The simple fact is, real feminism is in the heart, and what you think is feminism is nothing more than a subverted label. Applied liberally to things that appear to promote feminism on the surface, but underneath…do nothing more than preserve the status quo.

For the record, any woman who straps a baby to her back and travels the world is one kick ass woman. We need more of those. At the end of the day however, what we have are a society which contain alot of women who are nothing more than glorified baby dispensers. They could be so much more, they could be equals…nothing stops them really. Women have come a long way…and then just kinda stopped. The perception that women are perpetual victims took hold, and here they sit.

There is so much more to the world around them, and they are gluing glitter to posters for school projects. They could be more, if they rejected the notion that women are victims, if they rejected the notion that its “men” keeping them down. They need to accept the fact that, like any other human being…the only thing stopping them…is the only thing stopping any other human being from being everything they could be: themselves.
